If I'm not mistaken, most cartoons started off with more of a satirical or political overtone to them. (Or at least that's what I'm guessing)

Even in the old days of "Loony Tunes," "Betty Boop," and Disney, there were cartoons that were banned because they used a lot of off-color humor. (Some of the stuff I draw fits that bill)

I even hear adults say they like "Phineas and Ferb" - which is really cool because nobody's "too old for cartoons."
