I own two of them. Cat's are extremely flexible.....perfect for drawing practice. You can (often times) pose them, due to the fact that they sleep 23 hours a day....

I do (however) like particular types of dogs too.....preferably Labs and Golden Retrievers. You know....good, hyper, big, friendly, family dogs.
One thing to say about dogs and cats.....dogs love you unconditionally and constantly. Cats only want you to pet them when they want to be pet...which is fine too.
Within the debate over which animal is smarter....
Dogs can to many types of neat tricks for food.
Cats can also do these same tricks for food, but normally prefer their dignity.

If it was academic "roughness", I'd probably wallow in self pity for a few days, followed by attempting to learn a bit ahead for the next semester, and finally figure that I will try even harder come the next school time, and proceed to turn my brain back into mush via Spongbob episodes and video games. (sadly, this is normally how the routine of a bad grade goes.)
....On the OTHER hand, if it was something else that was rough (such as a loved one passing, being taunted by others, etc.), I'd probably wallow in self pity for a few days, and go straight to turning my brain back into mush via Spongbob episodes and video games.
